We're closing a store and it's tough. Our Hyannis Bearses way location has been there since sometime in the 1960's ... I think our owner even shed some tears. Why are we closing you ask? Well ... frankly, we need to reallocate some resources so we can expand our Middleboro location. Plus, the majority of our deliveries are coming from our South Dennis location and we can service most of our customers needs out of our hub.
So about that $50 tube of caulking. We've had some customers say to us that they now will have to go to Home Depot or another competitor. Instead of wishing them well, we're trying to educate them on how they can avoid spending $50 on something that can cost them $4.
Each and every morning, we have customers come into our locations for small pick-up items. Some customers have jobs going on all over the place, and have different guys, stopping into different Mid-Cape's for lumber, caulking, nails, glue...you name it. But is that efficient? Figure you're paying a guy $20 an hour...round trip, they are costing the company $40 bucks...plus the stop to D&D for coffee and the gas to run those big honkin' trucks that contractors are so fond of (and are neccessary of course). That's $50 bucks minimum.
Instead - let Mid-Cape deliver your supplies or use some economies of scale and have one guy pick up all the supplies for the job on his way into work. Or stock the warehouse with commonly used items. So many options to save money, gas, time and staff. Let us help you figure out what works best.
