What is your role at Mid-Cape? Receiving, inventory control, inside sales
What led you to a career at Wood Lumber? I worked in Higher Ed for about 16 years in Athletics and Student Life. Commuting to Boston from Sandwich was becoming very difficult and when the opportunity at Wood Lumber came up, I decided to change gears and try a new career path. It’s a decision I have never regretted.
Describe Mid-Cape in three words: Integrity, Quality, Driven
What is your biggest accomplishment at Wood so far, and what are you most looking forward to accomplishing at Mid-Cape? I can’t really cite one thing. Starting out in the yard here and getting the chance to work in several different areas has been very rewarding. And, now that we’re Mid-Cape, I just want to contribute as much as I can to the success of our new branch.
What is something working at Wood has taught you? Every customer coming through the door is important. If they leave here feeling good about their experience, that will lead to more sales down the road – either from that customer or from other people they interact with. One day you could be selling them a piece of plywood and, the next thing you know, you’re supplying them with materials for a major renovation.
So far, what has been your favorite characteristic or moment at Mid-Cape? I think the first couple of days after the merge. Lots of energy and getting a chance to work with team members from South Dennis was rejuvenating for all of us. Everyone from Mid-Cape has been great to work with and great to learn from. Despite the initial hectic pace, everyone took the time to answer a question or help with a problem.
What does the Mid-Cape Experience mean to you? Working together to deliver quality materials and outstanding customer service.
What’s the greatest bit of advice a Mid-Cape team member has ever given you? Learn something new everyday.
What is one important skill every person should have? Time management and adaptability. I feel that you have to be able to manage your work but also be able to address different issues effectively as they come up.
What is one of the things on your bucket list? A trip on the Trans-Canadian Railway through the Pacific Northwest.
